I’ve always been a craftsman at heart, always building, repairing, or improving something. It’s what I love to do. I grew up on a farm where the work never ended. I loved it. Hard work is all I’ve ever known. I’ve worked in the oilfield and the housing industries my whole life since then. Growing up, it was ingrained in me- “Work hard and you’ll succeed”. Well, 45 years later I realized that’s just not true. I gave up many dreams along the way and failed at many ventures. All I had to show for those years of hard work was a worn-down body and a pile of worn-out tools and trucks. Then I discovered something one day (one sleepless night actually), a group of wise men much younger than me who knew and were willing to teach me a set of skills that once learned, no one could ever take away from me. I realized I no longer had to work hard for a living. Instead, all I should ever do is help others escape from the same condition I spent my whole life in. Helping others escape the rat race before it becomes much too late. It’s my calling you could say. I will never look back. My time, thankfully, is mine again. Freedom. It’s all I ever really wanted, now that I look back on it all.
